All NHS staff now have access to BMJ Best Practice through their NHS OpenAthens accounts. BMJ Best Practice is a Clinical Decision Support tool, designed to provide the evidence you need to support clinical decision making. It brings the evidence together in one place, providing treatment algorithms, recommendations on investigations, differential diagnoses, and more. Access it from the Trust intranet http://flo/training-development/library-knowledge-service/or through your NHS OpenAthens account from the Library’s e-resource page at https://www.uhdblibrary.co.uk/e-resources
So you can easily find what you need, it’s structured according to your clinical workflow. It’s also available as an app, which works offline, so you can use it in the clinical setting or wherever else you need to. Just log in to the web version with your OpenAthens account and register for a personal BMJ account. Then download the app from your usual app store, entering your BMJ personal account details.
Creating a personal account means that, as well as downloading the app, you can record your learning activity and get continuing professional development credit – always useful for revalidation!
BMJ Best Practice provides patient information leaflets to help you inform and support your patients. All of the leaflets have been assessed by the BMJ Patient Panel, and are also Information Standard accredited, so you know they’re clear, easy to understand, and based on the best evidence. They may be a useful addition to UHDB Trust patient information leaflets.
If you have a question that isn’t answered by BMJ Best Practice, why not contact the Library for a literature search? Email uhdb.library@nhs.net or phone 01332 788146 (Derby) or 01283 511511 ext. 2104 (Burton, Tamworth and Lichfield).
